Steps for Starting and Parking a Car?

After entering the car, press the vehicle start button. In summer, you can shift gears and drive immediately. In winter, you need to warm up the car for about a minute before shifting gears and driving. To park the car, first shift to N gear, then pull the handbrake, shift to P gear, and press the vehicle start button to turn off the engine.
As a new driver who just got my license not long ago, I always need to take a few extra steps when parking. When I spot an empty spot by the roadside, I first turn on the right signal to alert the cars behind to slow down, then keep a close eye on the rearview mirror and the blind spot of the right rear window to make sure there are no approaching vehicles or pedestrians. Next, I gently press the brake to gradually slow down and approach the curb. I always choose a flat and open parking spot, avoiding intersections or fire hydrants to prevent violations. Once the wheels are aligned and parked close to the curb, I immediately shift to P gear (for automatic transmission) or pull the handbrake (for manual transmission). Then, I quickly turn off the engine, air conditioning, and lights to save power. Before getting out, I always check the blind spot by looking back to avoid opening the door directly into a bicycle or pedestrian. With more practice, it becomes much smoother. Especially in crowded cities with heavy traffic and pedestrians, finding a safe spot isn’t easy. I always leave at least an arm’s length of space for others to pass. It’s normal for beginners to make small mistakes—these habits develop over time. After all, safety is more important than rushing.
