Solutions for Q5 Sunroof Abnormal Noise?
2 Answers
Determine whether the abnormal noise originates from the sunroof components themselves or from collisions caused by other items placed inside the vehicle. First, remove accumulated dust from the sunroof sliding tracks, then apply lubricant to the left and right sliding tracks, applying more to areas where abnormal noise occurs. Tighten any loose screws and regularly clean the sliding channels; replace the sunroof sealing rubber strips in a timely manner and avoid exposure to rain and direct sunlight as much as possible.
As a Q5 owner, I used to have a serious creaking noise from the sunroof, mainly due to dust and lack of lubrication on the tracks, which was quite annoying. I bought a bottle of specialized lubricant, parked the car, opened the sunroof to its maximum, cleaned the dust from the tracks with a soft brush, and then sprayed some lubricant on all moving parts. I gently opened and closed the sunroof a few times to distribute the oil. Now, there's almost no noise—saving money and hassle. Remember to perform preventive maintenance every six months to reduce the occurrence of unusual noises. If the noise persists, it might be due to loose screws or mechanical wear, so check the fixing points and don’t overlook safety issues. Before DIY, ensure the car is turned off to avoid accidents.
