Should You Use High Beams or Low Beams When Driving in the Rain?

When driving in rain or fog, use low beams and position lights. When the rain is heavy, you should also turn on the fog lights. High beams can create a dazzling glare in rainy or foggy conditions, affecting other drivers, so avoid using them. Hazard lights should not be turned on casually while driving; they should only be used when parked or during emergency braking. Before heading out, check if the windshield wipers are functioning properly and effectively clearing water. If fog forms on the windshield, quickly activate the defroster or air conditioning to maintain clear visibility. Reduce speed when driving on slippery roads and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. In case of emergencies, apply brakes in advance to avoid sudden braking or sharp turns. If braking is necessary, use intermittent braking, slow down before turning, increase the turning radius appropriately, and steer gently to prevent loss of vehicle control.
