Should You Release the Throttle When Upshifting?

Whether to release the throttle when upshifting depends on two scenarios: 1. For manual transmission vehicles, you should release the throttle when upshifting; 2. For automatic transmission vehicles, there's no need to release the throttle. In automatic transmission vehicles, upshifting can occur in two ways: one is when the onboard computer automatically upshifts, which can be done without releasing the throttle, and the other is when using manual mode to upshift by shifting the gear lever to manual mode—pushing it upward to upshift and pulling it downward to downshift. The gears for automatic transmissions are as follows: P (Park) is the parking gear and also the starting gear; R (Reverse) is the reverse gear; N (Neutral) is the neutral gear; D (Drive) is the forward gear, also known as the driving gear; S (Sport) is the sport mode; and L (Low) is the low-speed gear.
