Should You Press Both the Clutch and Brake When Stopping at a Traffic Light?

When encountering a traffic light, it is necessary to press both the clutch and brake simultaneously. This is because during deceleration, the gear may not match the engine speed, leading to a dragging gear situation. Only by pressing the clutch can the power connection between the transmission and the engine be cut off, allowing for deceleration without affecting the engine. Short Duration: If the remaining time of the traffic light is very short—meaning it will soon turn green—you can keep pressing the brake. Once the light turns green, release the brake and press the accelerator to quickly move away. Low Traffic Volume: If the traffic light is about to turn green, you can control the throttle to try to reach the queue point when the light changes. If the traffic starts moving at this point, you can directly shift to second gear and go. If a brief stop is needed, use first gear with the clutch halfway engaged, then proceed to start and go.
