Should Water Be Added to Windshield Washer Fluid?

Whether to add water depends on the situation. Solid windshield washer fluid needs to be dissolved with water; for liquid windshield washer fluid, the concentration should be considered. High-concentration types have highly corrosive liquid inside, so they must be diluted with water according to the specified ratio before filling. Non-concentrated liquid windshield washer fluid can be used directly. The filling methods for windshield washer fluid are as follows: 1. Solid windshield washer fluid: First, open the engine hood. The hood release is usually located near the driver's left foot. After opening, you will see a blue plastic cap, which is the windshield washer fluid reservoir. Place the solid windshield washer fluid inside and add water. Note that the capacity of the windshield washer fluid reservoir is typically around 3L, so be careful not to overfill it. Wait for about 5 minutes for the solid windshield washer fluid to dissolve completely. The filling of solid windshield washer fluid is now complete. 2. Liquid windshield washer fluid: The steps are the same—open the engine hood, locate the windshield washer fluid filler port, open the cap, pour in the liquid windshield washer fluid, and close the cap. This completes the filling of liquid windshield washer fluid. Again, be careful not to overfill it.
