Should vehicle-mounted fire extinguishers use dry powder or water-based agents?

Vehicle-mounted fire extinguishers can use either dry powder or water-based agents. Dry powder fire extinguishers work by chemically inhibiting the fire through the volatile decomposition products of inorganic salts in the powder, or by the powder particles covering the surface of the combustible material to cut off oxygen supply. Water-based fire extinguishers spray fire suppressant that evaporates the heat from the fire scene, rapidly lowering the temperature. The surfactant in the agent quickly forms a water film on the surface of the combustible material, isolating oxygen and providing both cooling and isolating effects, while also participating in fire suppression to achieve rapid extinguishing. Common causes of vehicle fires include electrical fires and fuel leakage fires. For electrical fires, water-based mist extinguishers are more suitable; for fuel fires, water-based foam extinguishers are better. Dry powder fire extinguishers, on the other hand, have good versatility and a wide range of applications, making them suitable for both types of fires mentioned above.
