Should the oil filter be replaced when changing the engine oil?

Changing the engine oil requires replacing the oil filter. Here are the reasons why the oil filter must be replaced when changing the engine oil: 1. Engine oil not only lubricates but also plays a crucial role in removing contaminants from inside the engine. These contaminants are filtered out by the oil filter. If you change the oil without replacing the filter, the contaminants cannot be completely removed, rendering the oil change meaningless. 2. After being used for a period, the oil filter accumulates a lot of sludge and metal debris, which reduces its filtering efficiency. The oil pressure passing through the filter also drops significantly. When the oil pressure decreases to a certain level, the bypass valve of the oil filter opens, allowing unfiltered oil to enter the oil circuit through the bypass. The impurities carried by this oil can increase component wear and, in severe cases, may clog the oil passages, leading to mechanical failures. Therefore, the oil filter needs to be replaced regularly.
