Should the accelerator pedal be continuously pressed while driving?

When driving, it is not necessary to keep pressing the accelerator pedal continuously; it depends on the road conditions. While driving, if there is no need to decelerate or stop, the right foot should remain on the accelerator pedal (vehicles with electronic cruise control do not require continuous pressing of the accelerator pedal after activation). Here are some techniques for correctly using the accelerator pedal: 1. The operation of the accelerator pedal should use the right heel placed on the floor of the driver's compartment as a pivot point, with the sole gently pressing on the accelerator pedal, using the ankle joint's extension and flexion movements to press or release. When pressing or releasing the accelerator pedal, the force should be gentle, achieving a light press and slow release. 2. When starting the engine, do not press the accelerator pedal all the way down; it is better to press it slightly above the idle speed. When starting off, it is advisable to apply a bit of throttle just before the clutch engagement point, with the throttle opening at a moderate level. Releasing the clutch should be closely coordinated with pressing the accelerator, and the action should be swift. 3. During operation, the accelerator should be increased or decreased according to road conditions and actual needs. The selected gear should be appropriate, allowing the engine to operate mostly at medium speed and larger throttle openings to save fuel. When shifting gears, the coordination between adding empty throttle, pressing the clutch, and pressing the accelerator pedal should be harmonious.
