Should I Shift to P or N for Temporary Parking?

Temporary parking can be done in N gear. Here is the relevant information: 1. N gear is generally used for temporary parking at traffic lights. When using N gear with the handbrake, the transmission structure is disengaged inside the gearbox, allowing parking for a few minutes. However, prolonged use is not recommended as it can cause the gearbox to overheat and consume transmission oil. 2. For long-term parking, it is advisable to shift to P gear. If waiting at a traffic light, use N gear. If an automatic transmission vehicle is rear-ended while in P gear, it may cause damage to the gearbox. If there is no N gear, each temporary parking would require shifting through R gear (reverse gear) to reach P gear, which can cause abnormal wear to the gearbox.
