Should Freon Be Added If the Air Conditioning in a New Car Is Not Cooling?

Freon needs to be added if the air conditioning in a new car is not cooling. Turn on the air conditioning and also press the AC button. Other reasons for the air conditioning not cooling are as follows: Damaged Expansion Valve: A damaged expansion valve prevents the formation of high pressure in the system before the valve, causing the high-pressure refrigerant to fail to reach 150Kpa. As a result, the evaporator behind the expansion valve cannot cool down, leading to ineffective air conditioning. Internal Wear of the Air Conditioning Compressor: This results in the pressure between the air conditioning compressor and the expansion valve failing to reach 150Kpa to 200Kpa, preventing the refrigerant in the system from circulating normally and causing the air conditioning to not cool. Refrigerant Leakage: If there is too little refrigerant in the air conditioning system, the amount of refrigerant sprayed into the evaporator from the expansion valve will also decrease. Consequently, when the refrigerant evaporates in the evaporator, the amount of heat absorbed will decrease, leading to a reduction in cooling capacity.
I just bought a new car not long ago, and suddenly the air conditioning isn't cooling. My first thought was whether it's low on Freon. But I later learned that the air conditioning system in a new car is usually well-sealed, and Freon leaks are very rare. It's more likely a setting issue, such as the temperature knob not being turned down low enough, the fan speed being too slow, or the air conditioning switch not being set to cooling mode. If the air conditioning in a new car isn't cooling, it might be because the air filter is clogged with dust, affecting ventilation efficiency, or the compressor isn't working properly. First, check it yourself: start the engine, turn the air conditioning to the lowest temperature, and wait a few minutes to feel the cold air. If it still isn't cooling, don't rush to add Freon—this could waste money and potentially damage the system. Since the car is still under warranty, it's safer to go directly to the 4S store for a free inspection. Regularly cleaning the air filter during maintenance can prevent such issues and keep the system running efficiently.
