Reasons for the Airbag Warning Light Illuminating in MG GS

During engine self-check upon starting, the indicator light will illuminate, but it will turn off after the self-check is completed, approximately within 5 seconds. This is a normal phenomenon. Troubleshooting for MG Airbag Malfunction: Use a diagnostic tool to scan the airbag system for faults, then proceed with repairs based on the fault codes. If no faults are detected, the diagnostic tool can directly clear the fault codes. Alternatively, you may try unplugging the yellow connector under the driver's seat to test the resistance value of the left-side airbag. If the resistance is abnormally high, check for any grounding issues, as the fuse location is often an easily overlooked spot. If the resistance is normal, it indicates a false alarm, and you can attempt to clear the error codes using the diagnostic tool. Automotive Safety Assistance Features: After a collision between the vehicle and an obstacle (referred to as the primary collision), occupants may collide with interior components (secondary collision). The airbag rapidly inflates a gas-filled cushion between the primary and secondary collisions, allowing occupants to impact the cushion during inertial movement. This cushions the impact and absorbs collision energy, thereby reducing the severity of occupant injuries.
