Reasons for No Response from Jetta Car's Ignition Starter

Check whether the wiring terminals on the positive and negative electrode posts of the battery are in good condition. If normal, turn on the emergency hazard lights while starting the motor. If the hazard lights on the dashboard light up but become dimmer and slower in frequency, or stop working, it indicates insufficient power. You need to seek assistance from an automotive repair technician. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, press and hold the clutch pedal, and select the appropriate gear based on the number of people pushing the car. The following are the reasons for no response from the ignition starter: 1. The battery is dead or has weak power, resulting in the starter being unable to rotate or rotating slowly. 2. Loose or detached starter wiring terminals, or failure of the switch or solenoid switch. 3. Worn brushes or misaligned brush surfaces, weak springs, leading to poor contact with the commutator. 4. Short circuits or open circuits in the field coil or armature coil. 5. Contaminated commutator or protruding mica sheets, causing poor contact between the brushes and the commutator.
Once my own Jetta had an issue where the starter didn't make any sound at all when trying to start the car, which was really frustrating. After checking around, I found out it was because the battery was dead—possibly due to parking for too long or leaving the lights on. It could also be that the battery terminals were corroded, and cleaning them might solve the problem. Another reason could be a stuck starter or a faulty ignition switch; if there's no sound at all when turning the key, the relay might have blown a fuse. Aging wiring or short circuits can also cause this issue, especially in older cars where the wiring is prone to wear. It's recommended to first test the battery voltage with a multimeter, and if it's normal, then check the starter circuit. Remember not to crank the engine for too long continuously to avoid damaging components, and regularly maintain battery health by charging it for 8-10 hours.
