Reasons for Humming Noise from the Rear Wheels of an Audi Car

There are two potential causes for abnormal noise from the rear wheels: uneven rotation of the hub bearing or severe tire wear. Uneven Hub Rotation: The hub bearing's function is to bear weight and ensure precise rotation of the hub. If there is an issue with the bearing, it can lead to uneven hub rotation, and in severe cases, even cause the wheel to detach! Various factors can cause bearing problems, such as impurities entering the bearing due to an unsealed seal, resulting in insufficient lubrication, improper installation, or simply the bearing reaching the end of its service life. Severe Tire Wear: Check if the tread wear on the rear wheels is consistent. If one side shows significantly more wear than other areas, this is known as "tire cupping." Wheels with cupping are prone to tire failure due to uneven wear. Incorrect tire pressure (either too high or too low), unbalanced wheel rotation, or changes in wheel alignment can all lead to tire cupping.
