On the last day of the driver's license, which year does the deduction count towards?

It is calculated based on the previous year, which is the last scoring cycle. The inspection cycle of a motor vehicle driver's license ends, and before 23:59 on the day the driver's license is issued, it belongs to the previous scoring cycle. Once it exceeds 0:00, it will be calculated according to the next scoring cycle. Additional information: The following are the handling of driver's license point deductions: Downgrade, for drivers holding Class A and Class B licenses, within one scoring cycle, when the points deducted reach 12, the driver's license will be automatically downgraded. A Class B license will be downgraded to a Class C license, and a Class A license will be downgraded to a Class B license. Confiscation of driver's license, according to Article 68 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses", if a motor vehicle driver accumulates 12 points within one scoring cycle, the traffic management department of the public security organ shall confiscate their motor vehicle driver's license.
The demerit point system for a driver's license operates on a 12-month cycle, starting from the date you first obtained the license. If points are deducted on the last day of the validity period, they are counted towards the demerit point cycle year to which that day belongs, as deductions are always assigned to the corresponding annual cycle based on the date the incident occurred. The demerit points are automatically reset only after each full 12-month cycle, regardless of when the license's validity period ends; the validity period only affects whether the license needs to be renewed. For example, if I got my license on June 1, 2020, and it expires on May 31, 2026, any points deducted on May 31 would be counted in the 2025-2026 cycle. Everyone should drive carefully—accumulating too many points means having to take additional classes and tests, which isn't worth the risk of running a yellow light or speeding. Setting a reminder on your phone for the cycle date is quite handy for keeping track.
