Must the oil filter be replaced together with the engine oil?

The oil filter must be replaced together with the engine oil. The oil filter, fully known as the engine oil filter, is designed to remove impurities such as dust, metal particles, carbon deposits, and soot particles from the engine oil. After being used for a period of time, the filter element accumulates a significant amount of sludge and metal debris, leading to a decline in filtration efficiency and a substantial reduction in the oil pressure passing through the filter. When the oil pressure drops to a certain level, the bypass valve of the oil filter opens, allowing unfiltered oil to enter the oil circuit through the bypass. The impurities carried by this oil can increase wear on engine components. Engine oil, also known as motor oil or engine lubricant, is a substance enhanced with additives in base oil, primarily containing anti-wear additives, detergents, dispersants, and multi-grade oil viscosity index improvers.
