Must the driver's license expire before it can be renewed?

A driver's license does not have to expire before it can be renewed. Motor vehicle drivers should apply for renewal at the vehicle management office where the driver's license was issued within 90 days before the expiration of the license's validity period. When applying, the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form" should be filled out. Other methods for renewing a driver's license are as follows: Renewal via the "Traffic Management 12123" APP. Download the "Traffic Management 12123" APP, then select Service Center -- Expiration Renewal Service -- Fill in the information. The new license is generally delivered by mail. Go to the "Police-Medical-Post" service point at the postal business hall to process the renewal. The entire process, from registration and physical examination to the production of the new license, takes only half an hour. Currently, only a few cities have opened this service, such as Hangzhou. Renewal materials: Bring two copies of ID card, two 1-inch recent color photos without hats, original ID card, original driver's license, and a physical examination certificate from a county-level or above hospital (free physical examination is also available at the vehicle management office).
