Kia Sportage Generator Belt Routing Method?

Sequence starts from the crankshaft and counts clockwise. The grooved side of the belt contacts the pulley as the front side, while the smooth side is the reverse. It is mainly installed on the car engine's crankshaft pulley to the camshaft, water pump, generator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, and other locations.
I've repaired many Kia Sportage models before, and the routing of the alternator belt is crucial—otherwise, it affects the car's performance. Start from the crankshaft pulley, the source of the engine's power. The belt wraps around it, then goes to the water pump pulley, which drives the cooling system. Next, route it to the alternator pulley—responsible for charging the battery—and finally loop it back to the tensioner pulley for adjusting tightness. When replacing it, I always note the old belt's path and take photos for reference. Use a tensioner tool to adjust the tension, aiming for a 5-10 mm deflection. Too tight damages bearings; too loose causes squealing and slippage. Just have a socket set and wrenches ready, and don’t forget to disconnect the battery’s negative terminal for safety. I recommend checking the owner’s manual diagram first, or consult a mechanic to avoid misrouting and damaging drivetrain components. Inspect for cracks every 60,000 km to prevent failures.
