Jaguar XF glove compartment won't open

Jaguar XF's glove compartment features an external touch-sensitive switch. Gently place your finger on the switch to open it, showcasing a distinctive design. The car's glove compartment is located in front of the passenger seat. In the early days of automotive technology, gloves were essential items - for instance, drivers needed gloves when steering wheels lacked modern power assistance and were cold and heavy to operate, or when manually cranking the engine with a starting handle. Hence, the compartment was commonly referred to as the "glove box" by drivers. There are two types of glove compartment structures: fixed type and flip-type. The fixed type means the internal frame serves as the storage bin, with the storage space located within the dashboard body. The flip-type refers to the storage bin being integrated with the door panel, where the storage space is on the door and flips out when opened. While flip-type designs generally offer easier access to stored items, the additional structural requirements on the door panel reduce available interior space, making it less ideal for item storage and the installation of internal components like glove box lights. Conversely, fixed types provide more space but are less convenient for front-seat occupants to access items.
