Is Transmission Shift Shock a Serious Issue?
1 Answers
Transmission shift shock generally does not have significant impacts. It is usually caused by dirty or aged transmission fluid, and replacing the transmission fluid can resolve the issue. Below are common transmission shock faults and their causes: Fault: During startup, when shifting from park or neutral to reverse or drive, the vehicle experiences noticeable shock (jerking sensation). While driving, there is a distinct shock during automatic transmission upshifts. Causes: High engine idle speed; improperly adjusted throttle cable or throttle position sensor, leading to excessively high main oil circuit pressure; malfunctioning main oil circuit pressure regulator valve causing high oil pressure; slipping shift actuator; inoperative oil pressure solenoid valve; faulty ECU.
