Is Transmission Oil Seepage Serious?

Transmission oil seepage is not a serious issue as long as it does not drip onto the ground and only leaves slight oil traces. This is considered minor seepage, not a leak, and can be addressed during the next maintenance visit or when convenient at a 4S shop. The common cause of this issue is not using a new sealing washer for the drain plug during transmission fluid replacement, where the old washer may have slight deformation, leading to minor gaps. However, if there is severe transmission oil leakage, it is crucial to promptly visit a 4S shop or a professional auto repair shop for replacement. Otherwise, insufficient oil levels may cause delayed gear shifting, poor lubrication, inadequate cooling, and other issues, potentially leading to transmission lock-up in severe cases.
