Is There Still Warranty for the Battery of a Used New Energy Vehicle?
1 Answers
New energy vehicle power batteries and other core components have a warranty period of no less than 8 years or 120,000 kilometers, while the whole vehicle warranty is no less than 2 years or 50,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. 1. Extended Warranty Period: Major manufacturers generally extend the warranty period appropriately, such as extending the warranty for power batteries and other core components to 8 years or 150,000 kilometers, or even offering a lifetime warranty. 2. Warranty Period: The whole vehicle warranty is 3 years or 60,000 kilometers, though some may offer a lifetime warranty. Generally, the warranty period for new energy vehicles applies to the vehicle itself, not the owner. This means that as long as the new energy vehicle is still within the warranty period from the date of invoice, whether it is a used car or even an N-hand car, its warranty period and coverage remain valid, and it can still enjoy the corresponding warranty policy. 3. Low Warranty Period: Currently, few vehicles in China have reached a service life of over 10 years, and generally, power batteries remain functional for 10 years. If the time comes when major components like the power battery need replacement due to prolonged use, the vehicle may have already changed hands. Due to the 'first owner' restriction, the 'lifetime warranty' eligibility is automatically lost at that point. Therefore, if the warranty terms specify 'first owner' for a used new energy vehicle, it can enjoy the corresponding warranty service within the national minimum warranty period but cannot benefit from the 'lifetime warranty' rights.
