Is there any damage to the car if the P gear is accidentally engaged while driving?

Accidentally engaging the P gear while driving can cause damage to the car. It may harm the locking mechanism inside the transmission and is also likely to damage the gear shift switch inside the gearbox. When the vehicle has not completely come to a stop, do not directly shift into P gear, as this can easily lead to damage to the pawl inside the transmission. Therefore, the vehicle must always be fully stopped before shifting into P gear. Working principle of the transmission P gear: The P gear and N gear operate on the same principle, both by disengaging the gears to block the transmission of power from the engine to the wheels. However, the P gear structurally includes an additional parking gear and pawl compared to the N gear. When shifted into P gear, the pawl tightly locks the gear on the output shaft, creating a mechanical lock, thereby securing the drive axle and fixing the stationary vehicle.
