Is there a fee for retaking Subject 4?

There is no fee for retaking Subject 4. Subject 4, also known as the theoretical test for drivers, is part of the assessment for obtaining a motor vehicle driver's license. Subject 3 test consists of two parts: the road test and an additional test on safety and civilized driving knowledge, commonly referred to as Subject 4, which evaluates driving ethics. Since this test is conducted after Subject 3, it is commonly called Subject 4. The test content includes safe and civilized driving operation requirements, safe driving knowledge under adverse weather and complex road conditions, emergency handling methods for situations like tire blowouts, and post-accident handling knowledge.
When I failed the subject four test last time, I did have to pay a retake fee, which is 80 yuan per attempt here. The main reason was that I stayed up late before the exam and had no energy to answer the questions, resulting in a fail. Before retaking the test, I needed to reschedule and waited over a week for my turn. I think the fee is not too high, but if you keep failing and it accumulates, it becomes a waste of money. So I recommend everyone to practice more mock questions during revision, use the Driving Test App to go through the questions several times, and try to pass in one go to save both hassle and money. Safe driving knowledge is truly important; these rules are all applicable in actual driving and can help avoid accidents. Watch more instructional videos in daily life, keep a relaxed mindset, and retakes will be less likely. After all, the test is to assess your safety awareness—don’t just go through the motions to get the license.
