WEY Macchiato is a plug-in hybrid model. Macchiato's exterior: The new car continues the design of the hybrid version in terms of appearance, featuring the iconic design language of the new generation WEY brand, making it more fashionable and dynamic compared to the current model. In terms of body dimensions, the new car measures 4520/1855/1665 mm, with no significant difference from the hybrid version, and the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2710 mm. Macchiato's powertrain: The new car is equipped with the Lemon DHT plug-in hybrid system, whose core is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 102 horsepower, maintaining the same parameters as the previous hybrid version. It is paired with an electric motor powered by a ternary lithium battery. Based on the hybrid version, the combined maximum power of this powertrain can reach around 190 horsepower, and the declared comprehensive fuel consumption can be as low as 0.8 liters per 100 kilometers, demonstrating excellent performance.

That's right, the Macchiato does have a plug-in hybrid version! My buddy picked one up last year, and his PHEV model is super economical for daily city driving on electric power, only switching to gas for highway trips on weekends. The Macchiato comes in two hybrid variants: the regular DHT hybrid can't be charged, while the plug-in DHT-PHEV has a charging port and qualifies for green license plates, with a pure electric range of 110 km. When driving, the engine kicks in almost seamlessly, with smooth transitions between electric and gas modes. If you're looking to buy, make sure to check for the blue-framed "PHEV" badge on the rear or the charging port on the side—the regular hybrid doesn't have these features.

I've driven my friend's Macchiato PHEV, the charging port is right above the left rear wheel. This car uses a 1.5L engine paired with dual motors, delivering a system max power of 268 horsepower - significantly more powerful than the hybrid version. Especially in stop-and-go traffic, the electric drive is as quiet as a pure EV, automatically switching to hybrid mode when the battery depletes. However, the trunk is smaller than the gasoline version due to the 19.94kWh battery underneath the floor, though still sufficient for family use. I recommend test driving before purchase - the PHEV version offers three adjustable levels of regenerative braking.

On the day of pickup, the salesperson repeatedly emphasized distinguishing the versions: the Macchiato DHT is a fuel-burning hybrid, while the Macchiato DHT-PHEV is the plug-in hybrid. The latter can be charged and supports 55kW fast charging, with tests showing a charge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. The infotainment screen can display an energy flow animation, clearly showing the switching logic between electric and fuel drive. After driving it for half a year now, the monthly electricity bill is just a few dozen yuan, saving two-thirds compared to a pure gasoline car.
