XV is a compact SUV under the Subaru brand, with dimensions of 4480mm in length, 1800mm in width, and 1595mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2665mm. In terms of power, the Subaru XV offers both hybrid and pure gasoline versions. The hybrid version is a single-motor model, equipped with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, paired with a CVT transmission. In terms of appearance, the Subaru XV features a very youthful and stylish design. The front face adopts the family-style quadrilateral front grille design, complemented by sharp-looking LED headlights on both sides, giving the front face an excellent visual appeal. For the suspension, the front suspension uses a MacPherson independent suspension, while the rear suspension employs a double-wishbone independent suspension.

I've been driving my XV for two years, and it's definitely an SUV, not a wagon with that long rear-end design. Wagons usually have a lower body and larger rear cargo space, like the early versions of the Subaru Outback, which are quite typical. However, the XV has a raised chassis with 220mm of ground clearance, providing a higher driving position and the ability to handle mud or snowy conditions. The compact trunk space makes it suitable for small family trips. Overall, the driving feel leans more toward sporty, and with the full-time AWD system, it gives me the sensation of driving a compact SUV—safe and practical. Additionally, it's based on the Impreza platform but with reinforced suspension, making it similar to compact SUVs like the CR-V. It's also comfortable for city driving with decent fuel efficiency. Wagons emphasize comfort for long-distance travel, but the XV balances off-road capability and daily usability better, so I vote for the SUV camp.

With twenty years of driving experience, I can confidently say the XV is a quintessential crossover SUV. Station wagons are characterized by their low-slung bodies and large trunk space, like the Volvo V60. While the XV is based on the Impreza wagon, it has been modified with a raised chassis, thicker tires, and black protective cladding, making it suitable for light off-road use. Its horizontally opposed engine design provides a high yet stable seating position, and the all-wheel-drive system ensures safety on slippery roads. Though its space is smaller than a wagon, the rear seats can be folded down for cargo. Positioned as a compact SUV in the market, it offers an affordable price and low insurance costs. I believe it successfully blends the adventurous elements of an SUV and is a reliable choice.

My family uses the XV for school runs—it's an SUV, plain and simple. Wagons like the Audi A6 Avant are sleek and refined, but the XV sits higher and feels more planted. The trunk isn’t huge but handles daily needs just fine. The EyeSight safety system keeps the family protected, and the elevated driving position gives a commanding view, almost like piloting a larger vehicle. Its compact size makes parking a breeze, and fuel efficiency is solid. Overall, it’s a practical SUV.

I am passionate about automotive technology, and the XV is a standard crossover SUV. It is built on the Impreza platform but raises the ground clearance to 218mm and is equipped with Symmetrical AWD. The body features SUV-style cladding and optional roof racks, whereas wagons like the Subaru Levorg lean more toward a low center of gravity and streamlined design. The engine is a 2.0L horizontally opposed unit, offering a low center of gravity and high stability. The design emphasizes off-road capability over touring comfort, hence its classification as an SUV.

From a regular user's perspective: The XV is essentially an SUV. Station wagons are long like old-fashioned boxy cars, but the XV is similar in size to the Honda HR-V, with a rugged exterior, offering the high seating position and off-road capability typical of SUVs; it's easy and safe to drive, especially in rain or snow thanks to its all-wheel drive that prevents slipping; the trunk space is average, not in the station wagon style; the price is affordable, making it suitable for new car owners. I think it's a thoughtful compact SUV.
