Is the Seatbelt Pretensioner Disposable?

Pretensioning seatbelts are disposable. Seatbelt Pretensioner: It firmly secures occupants to their seats immediately upon detecting a collision, then gradually releases tension after the peak impact force has passed—when airbags have fully deployed to protect passengers. This mechanism prevents excessive force from causing rib injuries by incorporating both pretensioning and force-limiting features. Function of Seatbelt Pretensioner: During a collision, as occupants move forward and seats shift backward, loose seatbelts may result in: passengers slipping beneath the restraint system; or the body contacting deployed airbags while the belt remains slack. In such cases, the seatbelt fails to absorb initial impact energy as intended, transferring the entire load to airbags prematurely.
