Safe and civilized driving test is Subject 4. Subject 4 is also called Subject 3 Safe and Civilized Driving Knowledge, also known as Subject 4 Theory Test or Driver Theory Test. It is part of the motor vehicle driver's license assessment. The main contents of Subject 4 include safe and civilized driving operation requirements, safe driving knowledge under adverse weather and complex road conditions, emergency handling methods for situations like tire blowouts, and post-accident handling knowledge. The Subject 4 test lasts 45 minutes. It randomly selects 50 questions from the corresponding Subject 4 question bank based on the type of license being tested. For car licenses, questions are drawn from 1240 questions; for large vehicle licenses, from 1235 questions. Each question is worth 2 points. The test consists of true/false questions (1-20), single-choice questions (20-40), and multiple-choice questions (41-50).
As a veteran driver with over a decade of experience, I clearly remember that the Safety and Civilization Knowledge Test was what we called Subject Four. Back then, this theoretical exam was the final part of getting a driver's license. It covered all aspects of safe driving knowledge, such as how to handle emergencies, avoid fatigued driving, and civilized driving etiquette, including details like yielding to pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles. I think the test was well-designed because it didn't just assess rules but tested practical applications. After passing, I often recalled those scenario-based questions while driving, like slowing down in rainy conditions or checking lights at night. It ensured drivers not only knew how to drive but also understood safety, reducing accidents. New learners shouldn't underestimate Subject Four—failing it means not getting a license. When I drive in the city and see reckless behavior, I truly feel the usefulness of the Subject Four exam.
