The Jitai Expressway officially opened on October 27, 2020. Constructed and invested in by China Energy Engineering Group Gezhouba, the Jinan to Tai'an Expressway was fully completed and opened to traffic, marking the full operation of the Jitai Expressway. This development establishes a new half-hour direct route between Jinan and Tai'an. After its opening, social vehicles were allowed to use the expressway after 12:00 noon. The Jitai Expressway is a crucial component of Shandong Province's expressway network. It starts at the intersection of Jinan's Ring Expressway and the southern extension of the Second Ring East Road and ends in the northeastern part of Culai Town in Tai'an, connecting with the Taixin Expressway. The total length of the expressway is 55.9 kilometers, with a mainline designed as a six-lane, two-way expressway and a speed limit of 120 km/h. The project includes six tunnels and 65 bridges along the mainline, making it one of the few expressways in the province with a tunnel cluster, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of approximately 50%.
