Is the Mercedes-Benz GLE equipped with a timing belt or a timing chain?

Mercedes-Benz GLE uses a timing chain. Timing chain: The timing chain connects the timing gears of the engine cylinder head and the crankshaft, ensuring accurate intake and exhaust timing through a specific transmission ratio. The timing chain operates by using high-strength metal chains to link and synchronize the sprockets of components such as the crankshaft and camshaft. Replacement of the timing chain: To replace the timing chain, first remove the valve cover, detach the crankshaft pulley, and dismantle the timing chain cover. Rotate the crankshaft to align the first cylinder at top dead center, then secure the crankshaft with a fixing screw. Remove the old chain and install the new one. The crankshaft pulley does not have a keyway; during installation, align the round hole on the pulley with the groove on the timing chain cover.
