Is the Macchiato a Plug-in Hybrid?

The Macchiato has a plug-in hybrid version, expected to launch in mid-November. Body dimensions: The 2022 WEY Macchiato PHEV measures 4520 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1665 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2710 mm. The taillights feature a smoked design, and the rear bumper also adopts a smoked finish. Powertrain: The 2022 WEY Macchiato PHEV is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor. It uses a nickel-cobalt-manganese lithium battery with a capacity of 19.94 kWh, delivering a maximum output of 268 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque. The pure electric range is 100 km, and the combined fuel consumption is 0.8L per 100 km.
I've also been paying attention to the Macchiato recently, and it indeed has a plug-in hybrid version. If you look closely at the model names, those with the DHT-PHEV suffix are the plug-in hybrid versions, which can achieve over 100 kilometers of pure electric range—perfect for daily commutes in pure electric mode. However, the Macchiato also has a regular hybrid version (non-plug-in) that uses intelligent DHT technology. I've test-driven both: the plug-in version starts up very quietly because the engine doesn't work at all in pure electric mode, while the regular hybrid version reduces fuel consumption through power splitting. If you can install a charging station at home, the plug-in version is really cost-effective—a full charge costs just a few dollars. Of course, the larger battery increases the vehicle's weight, leading to slightly higher fuel consumption on highways.
