The IZOA engine is an imported engine, model M20A. The M20A is a 2.0L engine from the Dynamic Force series under the TNGA architecture, with a maximum power of 171 horsepower and a maximum torque of 203Nm. This 2.0L engine adopts high-speed combustion technology, electric continuously variable valve timing mechanism (VVT-iE), variable cooling system, and D-4S dual injection system, with a thermal efficiency as high as 40%. The Toyota IZOA's transmission uses a CVT continuously variable transmission model K120, which can transmit kinetic energy with maximum efficiency, delivering a strong sense of acceleration. The direct shift continuously variable transmission has the widest gear ratio range in the industry. It also reduces the load and wear on the steel belt, further enhancing dynamic response.

Last month I visited a Toyota 4S store to check out the IZOA, and the salesperson clearly told me that all engines used in domestically produced IZOAs are assembled at the Tianjin factory. Although this 2.0L naturally aspirated engine's technology originates from Toyota's global platform, the production line has been localized in China since 2018. The M20A-FKS engines installed in new vehicles now even have their cylinder blocks cast locally, with only a few core components requiring import. Actually, this is common for joint-venture cars nowadays - higher localization rates for engines actually make maintenance cheaper and parts easier to find.
