Is the engine oil pan only sealed with adhesive?

Engine oil pan cannot be sealed with adhesive only, a gasket is required. Below are the relevant details: Function of the oil pan: The oil pan is named a wet sump because the crankshaft throws and connecting rod big ends dip into the lubricating oil in the pan once per crankshaft revolution, providing lubrication. Additionally, the high-speed rotation of the crankshaft causes the throws to splash oil droplets and mist when they rapidly enter the oil reservoir, lubricating the crankshaft and bearings. This is known as splash lubrication. Lubricating oil in the oil pan: There are specific requirements for the oil level in the oil pan. If the level is too low, the crankshaft throws and connecting rod big ends cannot dip into the oil, leading to insufficient lubrication and wear on the crankshaft, connecting rods, and bearings. If the oil level is too high, the bearings may become fully submerged, increasing the crankshaft's rotational resistance and ultimately reducing engine performance. Moreover, excess oil may enter the combustion chamber, causing oil burning and spark plug carbon buildup issues.
