Is the date on the driver's license the same after renewal?

Driver's license renewal does not change the date. Renewing a driver's license simply means reissuing a new copy of the existing license. Documents required for driver's license renewal: "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form"; Identity proof and copy of the motor vehicle driver; Driver's license photo; If applying through an agent, a power of attorney and the agent's identity proof and copy must also be submitted. Notes on driver's license renewal: After the motor vehicle driver obtains a replacement driver's license, the original driver's license becomes invalid and must not be used further; If the renewal is processed within 90 days before the expiration of the current driver's license, the renewal for the expiration period can be processed simultaneously, and the original "Motor Vehicle Driver's Physical Condition Certificate" must be submitted.
Last time before renewing my driver's license, I also pondered about the date issue. Actually, the new license's validity period is different from the old one - it gets recalculated starting from the renewal date. When I renewed mine, I specifically noticed the staff inputting that day's date as the new starting point in the system. If you wait until it's almost expired to renew, you might lose a few days of validity. The safest approach is to process it within 90 days before expiration, ensuring seamless transition between old and new licenses. After renewal, remember to verify your personal information - I had to make an extra trip to the DMV because my address wasn't updated. I recommend setting a reminder in your phone for the next renewal date to avoid forgetting and getting fined for an expired license.
