Is the BYD Han a hybrid vehicle?

BYD Han offers both hybrid and pure electric versions. The BYD Han is a mid-to-large luxury sedan under the BYD brand, with a wheelbase of 2920 mm, length of 4960 mm, width of 1910 mm, and height of 1495 mm. The hybrid version of the BYD Han is a single-motor model, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power of 141 kW. This engine features direct injection technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. The electric motor paired with this engine has a maximum power of 180 kW and a maximum torque of 330 Nm.
Recently, I researched the configurations of the BYD Han, and it indeed has a hybrid version! The Han series is divided into the pure electric EV version and the hybrid DM version. The hybrid DM version adopts plug-in hybrid technology. Normally, it can be driven as a pure electric vehicle for 80-120 kilometers after charging, and when the battery runs out during long-distance driving, the engine will intervene to generate electricity. My neighbor bought a Han DM-i last month, and he said that he basically doesn’t use fuel for daily commuting in the city—one tank of fuel can last two months. This car also comes in the DM-i economy version and the DM-p performance version, with the latter accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, driving like a sports car. If charging isn’t a concern, the pure electric version is indeed quieter and more economical, but the hybrid version effectively solves the range anxiety issue.
