Buick Verano is a three-cylinder model, as all variants of the Buick Verano are equipped with three-cylinder engines. The Buick Verano is a compact sedan under the Buick brand, with dimensions of 4723 mm in length, 1802 mm in width, and 1466 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The Buick Verano is powered by two engine options: a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine and a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine. The 1.0-liter turbocharged engine has a maximum power output at 5800 rpm and a maximum torque range from 1350 to 4500 rpm, paired with a 6AT transmission. The 1.3-liter turbocharged engine delivers maximum power at 5600 rpm and maximum torque between 1500 and 4000 rpm, mated to a CVT transmission.

I've been driving the Verano for two years, and I remember the 2021 model still had a 1.3T three-cylinder engine. But when I changed cars last year, I noticed the new models all switched to a 1.5T four-cylinder engine, with GM specifically developing the eighth-generation Ecotec technology. Compared to the older model, the new engine has much less vibration, and the steering wheel doesn't shake at all when waiting at a red light. The power also increased from 165 horsepower to 184 horsepower, while the fuel consumption remained about the same. I suggest focusing on the acceleration when flooring the gas pedal during a test drive at the dealership—the smooth and dense sound of the four-cylinder engine is something the three-cylinder can't match. Also, take a look at the configuration sheet; even the entry-level 2023 Verano Pro now comes with a four-cylinder engine.

Old Zhang from the neighboring auto repair shop mentioned that the Verano has undergone significant changes. The 2019 to 2021 models indeed used the L3Z 1.3T three-cylinder engine, with some owners reporting noticeable vibrations due to worn engine mounts after 50,000 kilometers. However, the 2022 facelift introduced the LAH series 1.5T four-cylinder direct-injection engine paired with a steel-chain CVT transmission. Last week, while servicing a customer's 2023 Verano, removing the engine cover revealed four neatly arranged ignition coils. The key feature is this engine's 35MPa high-pressure direct injection, delivering city commuting fuel consumption of around 7L/100km - more economical than some hybrids.

According to the MIIT filing information, the current engine model of the Verano Pro is LAH. This code represents GM's Ecotec 1.5T four-cylinder engine with Avatar technology. Compared to the previous three-cylinder LFV engine, the maximum torque has increased from 240 Nm to 250 Nm, with a wider rpm range. We recommend focusing on the 2023 LeXiang version, which can be purchased for just over 100,000 yuan with a four-cylinder automatic transmission. Don't be fooled by used car dealers—used Veranos from around 2018 might still have the three-cylinder engine.
