No. Starting from June 2020, China has implemented the digitization of annual inspection labels nationwide, combining the vehicle annual inspection and environmental protection test labels into one. As long as the vehicle passes the annual inspection, there is no need to obtain an environmental protection label separately. Detailed information is as follows: 1. Digitization of Annual Inspection Labels: The electronic inspection certificate has the same legal effect as the paper certificate. Vehicles that have obtained the electronic inspection certificate no longer need to display a paper label, and traffic authorities will not penalize vehicles for not displaying (or pasting) the inspection label. The electronic inspection certificate can be downloaded and saved on a mobile phone for offline presentation when needed. 2. Expanded Exemption Scope: Non-operational mini and small passenger vehicles with 7 to 9 seats within 6 years are now included in the exemption scope. For non-operational mini and small passenger vehicles over 6 years but under 10 years, the inspection frequency is reduced from once a year to once every two years. As long as it is a private car with 9 seats or fewer, it does not require on-site inspection within 6 years. After exceeding 6 years, private cars with 9 seats or fewer within 10 years will have their inspection frequency relaxed from once a year to once every two years.
