Is the A3 Driver's License Test Difficult?

With some driving experience, passing the A3 driver's license test is not very difficult. Introduction to Driver's License: A driver's license (full name: motor vehicle driver's license), also known as a "driving license," is a document issued by the government transportation department to individuals who qualify to drive, usually in the form of a card. Conditions for Holding a Driver's License: To obtain a driver's license, one must meet the minimum age requirement and pass a driving test. The driver's license typically specifies the types of motor vehicles the holder is permitted to drive. Test Subjects: The test subjects include four items: traffic laws and related knowledge, field driving, road driving (including safe and civilized driving).
I just passed my A3 driving license exam a few months ago, and it felt significantly more challenging than the regular C1 license. The main difficulties lay in the field practice and road driving. For Subject 2, I had to master bus-specific skills like precise parking and reversing into a garage, which was particularly tricky given the vehicle's length and width—navigating tight turns really tested my spatial awareness. Subject 3, urban road driving, was even stricter, with lane-changing observations requiring much more attention than for smaller vehicles. The theory exam had a question bank of over 1,200 questions, and it took me a solid two weeks of studying to memorize the key points. Although it took me two and a half months, practicing three hours daily and perfecting details like stopping within 30 cm of the curb, most people can pass within three months.
As a driving instructor who has trained many students for the A3 license, I can responsibly say the pass rate is around 60%. The biggest challenge is adapting to the driving characteristics of buses—long wheelbase, large turning radius, and high center of gravity. During training, we focus on overcoming the continuous obstacle and single-plank bridge sections, which have the highest failure rates. On average, students need about 35 training sessions to reach exam proficiency. It's advisable to get a medical check-up before enrolling to ensure your vision meets the requirements. On exam day, bringing some menthol ointment can help prevent nervous hand tremors.
