Is the 8AR engine imported?

8AR engine is not an imported engine. It is the first domestically produced 2.0T engine with the model number 8AR-FTS. This engine can be found in the Toyota Highlander. Highlander body dimensions: The Highlander has a wheelbase of 2790mm, with length, width, and height measuring 4890mm, 1925mm, and 1720mm respectively. Highlander powertrain: The Highlander is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a maximum power output of 162kW and a maximum torque of 350Nm. The engine's maximum power is achieved at 5200 to 5600 rpm, and the maximum torque is available from 1800 to 4000 rpm.
The Lexus RX300 I just bought uses the 8AR engine. Before purchasing, I carefully asked the sales consultant, who clearly stated that this engine is imported from the Japanese factory because their technology is more mature there. For ordinary car owners, imported engines have good quality, but maintenance costs are higher, especially when replacing parts that require waiting for Japanese stock, sometimes causing delays due to shortages. Nowadays, domestic engines like Changan's are improving rapidly, but there are no plans to localize the 8AR yet. Toyota insists on imports for stability and brand image. Overall, if you prioritize reliability, don't worry about the slightly higher cost—after all, it runs much smoother.
