Suzuki is definitely a genuine Japanese brand, with its hometown in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. I've driven their Swift - light throttle response and low fuel consumption, typical Japanese compact car style. Although they've withdrawn from the Chinese market now, you can see Suzuki-made Altos and Jimnys everywhere in Southeast Asia. Their strongest suits are compact cars and off-road technology, like the super-high thermal efficiency of their K-series engines. They even dominate the motorcycle market in Southeast Asia. Even India's iconic Maruti Suzuki cars are joint-venture productions, but core R&D still remains in Japan.

The mention of Suzuki immediately brings to mind their expertise in compact cars, with pure Japanese heritage. During WWII, they were even manufacturing military motorcycles. I previously test drove the new Swift Sport edition, equipped with a 1.4T engine paired with a 6MT transmission, with a redline that can reach 7000 rpm - typical Japanese performance tuning. Although they no longer sell new cars in China, parallel-imported Jimnys still command a premium of 150,000 yuan. Their motorcycles are even more impressive - the GSX-R series has won seven MotoGP championships, outperforming Honda and Yamaha.
