Is Skoda a domestic or joint venture brand?

Skoda is a joint venture brand, but many of its models have been localized for production in China. The Skoda vehicles seen in the domestic market are all joint venture cars, offering a range of sedans and SUV models such as the Superb, Octavia, Kodiaq, Kamiq, and Karoq. Taking the Skoda Superb as an example: it is a mid-size car with dimensions of 4869mm in length, 1865mm in width, and 1489mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2841mm. It is equipped with either a 1.4T or 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering maximum power outputs of 110kw and 137kw respectively, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
ŠKODA is not a purely domestic brand. It's a legitimate century-old Czech manufacturer that started building bicycles as far back as 1895, with a longer history than many automotive brands. However, the ŠKODA cars sold in China today are all joint-venture vehicles under the Volkswagen Group, produced by SAIC Volkswagen. Models like the new Octavia and Kodiaq you see on the road are all domestically manufactured in factories located in Ningbo, Nanjing, and other cities. Although they're joint-venture cars, the chassis tuning retains some of the resilience typical of European vehicles, offering genuinely higher cost-performance than pure German brands. Buying this brand means getting German technology at domestic prices, with maintenance parts being interchangeable with Volkswagen's, making it economical and hassle-free.
