Reversing refers to the act of not proceeding along the side of the road as stipulated by laws and regulations. China's Road Traffic Safety Law and the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses have relevant provisions on penalties for reversing. According to Order No. 123 of the Ministry of Public Security, the demerit point standards for vehicle reversing are as follows: 1. If a motor vehicle driver commits any of the following violations, 12 points will be deducted at once: driving a motor vehicle in reverse, going against the traffic flow, or making a U-turn across the central divider on a highway. 2. If a motor vehicle driver commits any of the following violations, 3 points will be deducted at once: overtaking or yielding not in accordance with regulations, or driving against the traffic flow. The penalty for reversing as stipulated in Article 90 of the Road Traffic Safety Law: motor vehicle drivers who violate road traffic safety laws and regulations regarding road traffic rules shall be given a warning or fined. If there are other provisions in this law, penalties shall be imposed in accordance with those provisions.
