Is Replacing the Crankshaft Considered an Engine Overhaul?

Replacing the crankshaft is considered an engine overhaul. Below are relevant details about engine overhauls: 1. Introduction: A major engine overhaul primarily involves replacing components such as valves, pistons, cylinder liners, or performing cylinder boring and crankshaft grinding. According to most 4S shop standards, it typically requires replacing the "four supporting parts," namely pistons, piston rings, valves, valve stem seals, valve guides, crankshaft bearings, and connecting rod bearings. 2. Maintenance Notes: (1) Remove throttle valve sludge. The formation of sludge in the throttle valve can result from various factors, including carbon deposits from fuel combustion exhaust accumulating at the throttle valve, as well as impurities not filtered by the air cleaner remaining there. Excessive sludge can cause air intake resistance, leading to increased fuel consumption. (2) Clean injector carbon deposits. Carbon deposits easily form in the combustion chamber, making starting difficult. Carbon deposits on the injectors can also clog fuel passages, distort fuel injection, and impair atomization, naturally increasing fuel consumption.
