Is Pre-Start Vehicle Self-Check Necessary?
1 Answers
Generally, vehicles are equipped with a self-check module. When the key is inserted into the LOCK position and turned to the ACC position, it powers up some of the vehicle's electrical components. Turning the key to the ON position activates all electrical components and initiates the self-check process. The START position is the ignition position, and the key returns to the ON position after successful ignition. For vehicles with a push-button start, pressing the button without stepping on the brake pedal initiates the self-check. Once the self-check is complete, pressing the button again while stepping on the pedal starts the engine. This is the standard startup procedure. During the self-check, the vehicle's onboard computers send signals to various sensors, which in turn provide feedback to the computers, confirming that the sensors are functioning properly and all circuits are connected correctly. On the dashboard, you will observe all warning lights illuminating one by one, and in some vehicles, the instrument needles may also move. After a successful self-check, the warning lights will turn off. If there is an issue with any function, the corresponding warning light will remain illuminated, alerting the driver to the need for troubleshooting.
