Is Neutral Gear Represented by N?

Neutral gear is represented by the N position. The N position serves as neutral in both automatic and manual transmissions. Function of N position: It disengages power transmission between the input and output shafts of the transmission. The N position can be used for short-term parking. Other gear positions: Some automatic transmission models also have S, L, and M positions. S stands for Sport mode. L stands for Low gear, used for climbing or descending hills. The N position can be used for short-term parking. M stands for Manual mode, allowing the driver to manually shift gears up or down.
Last time I accompanied a friend for their driver's license test, the instructor in the passenger seat was yelling loudly: 'Look carefully! N stands for Neutral, the letter N!' Indeed, for automatic transmission drivers, just remember that prominent N on the gear lever. In this position, the engine disconnects from the wheels, allowing the car to be pushed easily. It's most transmission-friendly to shift to N gear while waiting at red lights with the brake pressed. But never coast downhill in N gear - the brake pads can't handle it!
