Is Jetta an Independent Brand?

Jetta is an independent brand. Previously, Jetta was a model under FAW-Volkswagen, but now it has become an independent brand under Volkswagen. Taking the Jetta VS5 as an example, it is the first SUV model under the Jetta brand. In terms of body dimensions, the Jetta VS5 measures 4419mm in length, 1841mm in width, and 1616mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2630mm. Exterior-wise, the front face of the Jetta VS5 adopts Volkswagen's X design element, extending bidirectionally towards the hood and lower grille. The side profile design continues the Volkswagen brand's styling, with lines running through the entire body.
Speaking of the Jetta brand, I have to say it is indeed independent now. Since 2019, Volkswagen has spun off Jetta from its original model lineup and established it as a standalone brand specifically targeting the mid-to-low-end entry-level market in China. This change stems from strategic considerations: Volkswagen identified young consumers and budget-conscious groups, launching models like the VS5 and VA3 priced below 100,000 yuan—affordable and practical. As someone who frequently follows automotive trends, I think this was a smart move. It inherits Volkswagen's quality while lowering the barrier to entry, allowing more people to own a car. Of course, even as an independent brand, Jetta still shares Volkswagen's technical platform, and maintenance costs haven’t changed much. For the average consumer, it’s just another great option when buying a car. If you’re considering a purchase, I’d recommend test-driving a Jetta—the driving feel is solid.
