Is it serious if the side of the tire is peeled?

If only a very small part of the tire sidewall is peeled, it will not have much impact on the car. However, if the car tire is cut with a gash, it is best not to continue using it in such cases, as the tire may burst during high-speed operation. Generally, car tires have tread wear indicators. These indicators are located at the bottom of the tread pattern grooves, with a height of approximately 1.6 millimeters, which is the groove depth of the tire. If the tire wear reaches the height of these indicators, the tire should be replaced immediately because severe wear can affect driving safety if you continue to drive.
Never ignore sidewall damage on your tires. As someone with years of driving experience, I can tell you this is the weakest area and most prone to accidents. Unlike the tread which has thick rubber layers, a deep cut on the sidewall may expose internal fabric or steel belts. At high speeds, unstable tire pressure can easily lead to blowouts - an extremely dangerous situation. Common causes include scraping against curbs or sharp objects, so always leave space when parking to avoid scratches. When inspecting, feel the depth of the damage: if you see white cords or steel wires, stop driving immediately and replace the tire; if it's just surface scratches without exposed cords, still visit a repair shop for evaluation ASAP. Don't hesitate about the cost - safety comes first. Remember to regularly check tire condition, maintain proper pressure and balance to extend lifespan and prevent accidents.
