Is it Safe to Use Lesser-Known Brand Engine Oil?
1 Answers
Lesser-known brand engine oils can be used for cheaper cars, but are not recommended for more expensive vehicles. There are three types of engine oils: mineral oil, semi-synthetic oil, and fully synthetic oil. Mineral Oil: Refined from petroleum as the base lubricating oil, mixed with various additives. Compared to semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oils, it has higher impurity levels, is prone to carbon deposits, and requires frequent engine cleaning. Synthetic Oil: Engine oil manufactured through chemical methods by adding various components as needed. The correct term should be chemical synthetic lubricant, also known as chemical synthetic oil. Compared to mineral oil, it offers higher heat dissipation efficiency, better fluidity, and superior high-temperature resistance, hence its higher price. Semi-Synthetic Oil: A blend of synthetic and mineral oils, with performance characteristics between the two. Its price and replacement cycle are also intermediate. For ordinary naturally aspirated engines, semi-synthetic oil can be used.
