Is it safe to drive with underinflated tires?

Tires with insufficient air pressure can be driven at low speeds for short distances, but high-speed or long-distance driving should be avoided. When tire pressure is too low, high-speed driving may cause wave-like deformation, increasing the risk of a blowout. Tire pressure can be about 10% higher than the recommended level, but it must never fall below it, as severely low pressure significantly compromises driving safety. If tire pressure drops unexpectedly during normal use, check for punctures or air leaks. Any punctured or leaking tires should be repaired or replaced promptly. During regular vehicle maintenance, applying dashboard wax to the tire surface can help slow down rubber aging.
