Is It Okay Not to Repair Exposed Automotive Primer?
1 Answers
Whether exposed automotive primer needs to be repaired depends on the location of the scratch. If the scratched area is large and the scratch has revealed the black primer, it means the damage has reached the primer layer, and you should visit a 4S shop for repainting. If left untreated for too long, the scratched area will rust and gradually expand. However, if the scratch is only on the front or rear plastic bumper, it won't rust, and you can simply use a touch-up pen to cover it. Automotive primer is the first layer of paint directly applied to the surface-treated metal parts, serving as the foundation of the entire coating. Additionally, it provides excellent corrosion resistance, rust prevention, oil resistance, chemical resistance, and water resistance.
